Reinforcement of the component "Man and Nature", for the defense of the environment and of the natural patrimony. "Fool for love" by Robert Altman was awarded Best Film.
International recognition of the Festival, with the presence of the FIPRESCI Jury (Federation International de la Presse Cinematographique). The Council of Europe awards a prize to the best pictures about environment. The Spanish film "Madrid" by Basilio Martin Patiño received the Golden Dolphin for Best Film.
Accreditation in FIAPF (Federation International des Associations de Produteurs de Films). The Festival starts to devote the Official Section (competition) to the small cinematographies, gaining a bigger cultural dimension. Presence of the OCIC Jury. The actor Robert Mitchum, actress and singer Debbie Harry, screenwriter Tony Houston and the director Tony Bill are the guests of honour of the Festival. The Argentinean film "En nombre del hijo" by Jorge Polaco was awarded Best Film.
The I Symposium of Film Producers and the International Colloquium about Portuguese Cinema are held in Troia. First edition of the Film Market (Filmerca). Kirk Douglas is the guest of honour of the V Festroia.The film "El Kalaa" by Mohamed Chouikh was awarded Best Film.
International Symposium about Cinema and Television in the South of Europe, with the participation of European and American specialists. Christopher Walken and the soviet director Alexander Askoldov are the guests of honour. "Louss" by Rachid Banhadj (Alger) was awarded Best Film.
Meeting of Film Producers and of the Experts in Cinema of the Council of Europe. A great embassy of the North American Cinema – actors, directors, screenwriters, etc. – is present in Troia: Jane Russell, Stuart Whitman, Dennis Hopper and Ben Gazzara, among other outstanding individuals. The film "Homo Novus" by Pal Erdoss (Hungary) received the Golden Dolphin for Best Film.
Marking the fourth anniversary of the OCIC participation in the Troia
Film Festival, the I International Forum of the Young Film Critics which
gathers in Troia some of the professionals of European, American and Asian
written press, was held. Festroia emphasizes its cultural slope with the
creation of a new section.
"History in Films", is choosing for its theme the Spanish Civil War.
Mickey Rooney is the guests of honour. "One full moon" from Wales
was awarded Best Film.
Festroia honours Nelson Pereira dos Santos, awarding in the Golden Dolphin to consecrate his career. In association with OCIC, an International Meeting is held with the purpose of founding a Data Bank of the European Audio-Visual. Lauren Baccall is the guest of honour of the Festival. The film "It's better to be wealthy and Healthy than poor and Ill", by Juraz Jakubisko (Czech Republic) was awarded Best Film.
In its X Anniversary the Festival honours one of the most popular and controversial figures of the modern European Cinema – Pedro Almodovar, awarded with the Golden Dolphin. Kieslowsky is in Troia to present his last film of the famous trilogy: White, Blue and Red. The Icelandic movie "The Sacred mound" received the Golden Dolphin for Best Film.

Showcase of the Modern Chinese Cinema. A big photographic Exhibition
of the Magnum photographers – Lovers in Cinema – was held. "Madagascar",
by Fernando Perez (Cuba) received the award for Best Film.
The Festival homage one of the most comic actor of the European Cinema:
Alberto Sordi, which received the cultural Medal of the City given
by the Municipality.
The writer and director Alain Robbe--Grillet presents
his most recent work. The Icelandic film "Golden Fever" by Fridrik Thor
Fridriksson won the Golden Dolphin for Best Film.
The actor Rod Steiger received the Golden Dolphin of consecration for his career. The actor Georges Corraface presents his last film. Retrospective of Lindsay Anderson. Francesco Masseli, Herbert Lom and David Sherwin were members of the Official jury. In the section Cinema in History the Festival presented The Mexican Revolution. "The Father" by Majid Majidi (Iran) was awarded Best Film.
The Festival recovers one important film copy of a documentary made in 1930 with about 3 hours which was accidentally found. The film, about the city in the beginning of the century was shown to the public for the first time. In the section Cinema in History the Festival presents "The war in Yugoslavia". Homage to Pilar Miro and a Showcase of the New Iranian Cinema. The Turkish film "The Bandit" received the award for Best Film.
Retrospective and Homage to Francesco Rosi which received a Golden Dolphin. Lea Massari was one of the Festival guests. Showcase of Dutch Films in the Section Homage to a Country. Bob Swain and Joaquim Kroll were members of the Official Jury. "Soloman and Gaenor", by Paul Morisson (Wales) received the award for Best Film.
Homage to Juan Antonio Bardem. International Seminary of the 500 years of the discovery of Brazil. Showcase of Danish Films in the section Homage to a Country. The German Producer Regina Ziegler was homage and received a Golden Dolphin for her important work in the cinematic arts. The Festival became a member of CICAE. The Finnish film "Ambush", by Olli Saarela, received the Golden Dolphin for Best Film.
Festroia pays tribute to the director Fernando Lopes. For the first time, a showcase of films about the beginning of the Colonial War in Angola is presented. Icelandic cinematography is deservedly shown. The actor Michael York receives a Gold Dolphin for his career. "Italian for beginner's" by Lone Scherfig was awarded Best Film.
The most controversial Spanish director, Bigas Luna's homage in the 18th Edition of Festroia receiving the Culture Medal from the Setúbal Municipality. The Festival makes a Special Showcase to the Eastern European Cinema. The Argentinean film "Todas las azafatas van al cielo" wons the Golden Dolphin for Best Film.
Started the co-operation with the European Film Academy
(EFA) with the propose to show and promote new talents,
showing the section Fassbinder Awards Nominees – European
New Directors.
The Festival, homage the Portuguese actor,
Ruy de Carvalho, giving him the Golden Dolphin for his career.
The Golden Dolphin for Best Film was given to "Historias
Minimas", by Carlos Sorin (Argentina).
To celebrate the "EURO 2004" in Portugal, the Festival
dedicated a big showcase to a special section "Cinema and
Football". The Hungarian Cinema had a special focus.
Presentation of Cinema Schools.
Homage to the Portuguese actor Raul Solnado for 50 years
of career. Homage to Ettore Scola, which received
the Golden Dolphin for his important work as director.
The Golden Dolphin for Best Film was given to "Bonjour
Mr. Shlomi" (Israel).
The 21st edition of FESTROIA, was marked
by the presence of the "European Shooting Stars", supported
by the European Film Promotion with the objective to reveal
the young actors of the European Cinema.
In the same context and to reveal the young European
Directors, the Fassbinder Award Nominees were shown, with
the support of the European Film Academy.
A Seminar was made "The European Young Talents" presided
by Els Vandevorst (EFA) and with the participation
of the "Shooting Stars" and several directors, actors,
teachers and students, etc.
The country honoured
at this edition was Finland. The young actor Peter Franzen
received the Golden Dolphin in the name of the Finish Film
Institute.
The Best Film was "Turtles can Fly"
by Bahman Ghobadi (Iran).
The 22nd edition of the FESTROIA reached a stage
of programming never reached before with the presentation
of 179 films. The homage country was Norway for 3 reasons:
The Centenary of its Independence as a country and its film
production, the Centenary of Ibsen's death and the 50th
anniversary of the Norwegian Film Institute. It was present
at the opening the mute film "Terje Vigen" (recovered
in 2005 by the Institute).
The Golden Dolphin for career
awarded the Portuguese actor Joaquim de Almeida. The 25 years
of the death of Satyajit Ray were signed by a showcase of his
films and a Golden Dolphin was awarded. His son, Sandip Ray,
Director received it in his father's name. The Golden Dolphin
for Best film was given to Eyal Halfon for his film "What
a beautiful place" - Israel.
On the first edition since the death of its founder,
Mário Ventura, Festroia became the first international
film festival to offset its carbonic footprint, with
the goal of raising its audience's awareness
to the planet's environmental problems. British actor
Christopher Lee and Czech director Jirí Menzel were
awarded with Career Gold Dolphins. The section Tribute
to a Country was dedicated to Spanish cinema, with
the screening of over two dozen films from our neighbor
country, including the premiere of Alatriste, by Agustín
Díaz Yanes.
The Gold Dolphin for Best Film was given
to Rajko Grlic's "Borderpost".
The 24th edition of FESTROIA was marked
by a Tribute to Polish Cinema, with the screening
of 29 films from Poland. A Crystal Dolphin was handed
out to the Polish Film Institute, with the presence
of individuals like Agnieszka Holland, Andrzej
Zulawski, Krzysztof Krauze, Joanna Kos-Krauze, Wiktor
Grodecki and many other Polish talents.
A Career Gold Dolphin was given to Portuguese actor
Nicolau Breyner and Spanish actress Assumpta Serna
received another one for her Contribution to Motion
Picture Arts.
The film that won the Gold Dolphin was Jan Sverak's
"Empties". This edition also had a record number
of films screened: 214.
The Festival had the honour to receive other
important cinema individuals such as: Chen Caige,
Pal Erdoss, Jose Luis Lopez Vasquez, Suso Cechi
D'Amico, Franco Nero, Omer Kavur, Laura Conte,
Fernando Solanas, Susan Wooldrige, Alejandro Agresti,
Fridrik Thor Fridriksson, Kira Muratova, Jean
Marie-Teno, Sam Shaw, Bela Tarr, Idrissa Oedraogo,
Tarak Ben Amar, Karoly Makk, Irwin Kershner,
Francesco Masseli, etc.
The 25th edition was marked by the homage
to Czech Republic, 29 films were shown from
this country's cinematography. The Crystal
Dolphin was given to Ladislav Skerik,
the Czech Ambassador, various Czech
personalities represented their country,
such as Juraj Jakubisko, Karel Roden, Jiri
Menzel, Ivan Trojan, Jan Budar, Jaroslav
Boucek, Petr Koliha, Martin Maryska, Filip
Renc.
The actor Michael Madsen has been homage
with a Golden dolphin for his career.
The Festroia golden Dolphin was given
to Dome Karukoski for his film "Forbidden
Fruit".
The Festroia has assigned for the first time,
to homage his founder, the Mário Ventura Award.
This award is given to the best script
of a European short film.
The prize is worth 2000€.
In its 26th edition, the festival was honored to homage
the Slovakia Cinematography screening more than 20 films,
in this homage. Various Slovakian personalities representing
their country were invited by the Festival.
In this edition the Festival decided to homage, once again,
a Portuguese actor, Rogério Samora was given a Golden Dolphin
for his 30 years as an actor.
Hans Petter Moland from Norway won the Golden Dolphin
for "A Somewhat Gentleman".
The Festival, during it's 26 years, had the honour to receive
other important cinema individuals such as: Chen Caige, Pal
Erdoss, Jose Luis Lopez Vasquez, Suso Cechi D'Amico, Franco Nero,
Omer Kavur, Laura Conte, Fernando Solanas, Susan Wooldrige, Alejandro
Agresti, Fridrik Thor Fridriksson, Kira Muratova, Jean Marie-Teno,
Sam Shaw, Bela Tarr, Idrissa Oedraogo, Tarak Ben Amar, Karoly Makk,
Irwin Kershner, Francesco Masseli, etc.
The festival played homage to the Turkish cinematography
and presented 20 Turkish films. The Cristal Dolphin was given
in the Opening Ceremony with the presence of several Turkish talents.
In this edition were presented 179 films from 32 countries.
The Golden Dolphins for carrier achievement were given to the Dutch
director Jos Stelling and the Portuguese actress Maria de Medeiros.
"TIRZA" by Rudolf van Berg was awarded Best Film.
